Who is East Gippsland Marketing?
Founded in 2009, East Gippsland Marketing Inc (EGMI) is the regional marketing body for East Gippsland. Our efforts span compelling marketing campaigns, collaborations, and opportunities that empower businesses, livelihoods, and experiences, all set against the backdrop of East Gippsland's natural beauty. Our aim is to attract visitors, residents, workers, and investors, ensuring long-term economic and community sustainability.
Who We Are and Our Connection to You
We’re EGMI - East Gippsland Marketing Inc. a not for profit organisation based in Bairnsdale.
Founded by local business owners, our role is to promote the remarkable advantages of our region – encompassing living, working, investing, and visiting. Our mission is to foster a thriving, expanding economy by raising awareness about East Gippsland's exceptional offerings.
EGMI Board and Team
EGMI is managed by a volunteer board of 13 people. Representatives include municipal stakeholders, professionals from a cross-section of industries and skill-based appointees. You can read all about the EGMI Board Members HERE
EGMI also employs a team on the ground, who bring everything to fruition. There is an Executive Officer, Media & Marketing Manager and a Media & Marketing Assistant.
Collaborations and Initiatives
EGMI is committed to collaboration, teaming up with Destination Gippsland for positive media stories and regional visitation promotion. We're also collaborating with local transport businesses and regional representatives to tackle industry challenges.
We actively partner with local enterprises, fostering connections and coordinating marketing strategies that benefit East Gippsland's wider business community.
EGMI's funding comes from East Gippsland Shire Council, East Gippsland Businesses Partners, and collaborations with entities like Destination Gippsland, Committee for Gippsland, local Chambers of Commerce, Business and Tourism Associations, Food & Fibre Gippsland, and Gunaikurnai Land and Waters Aboriginal Corporation (GLaWAC).
Our social media presence via @loveeastgippsland & @visiteastgippsland on Instagram and Facebook has an audience reach of over 1.2 million views annually, in fact in December 2022 we had one post which went viral and garnered over 9 million views, spotlighting the allure of East Gippsland to the world.
The Building Blocks of Success
Networking is pivotal for thriving businesses. EGMI acknowledges the significance of forging connections, spotlighting local businesses, and generating dialogue on regional concerns. Our partner-only Business Networking Breakfasts are considered the best in the region and foster connections between business owners and community stakeholders, encouraging collaboration and mutually beneficial relationships.
Past Successes and Future Prospects
The past year, EGMI achieved milestones such as the creation of a mobile-friendly website designed to inform and attract investors to the East Gippsland region, a revamped East Gippsland touring map widely used for promotion of the area as a tourist destination and the support of East Gippsland Shire’s successful bid to become the first region in Victoria to gain Eco-Destination certification - recognising East Gippsland’s commitment to a sustainable future for our region, making it an desirable place to live and work.
We continue to collaborate with BTA’s and the local community to provide unwavering support and growth opportunities. Notably, our involvement in projects like Stay Omeo, Deadly in Gippsland First Nation's Business Expo, Bairnsdale Jobs Expo and the Orbost Visitor Economy Innovation Working Group, underscores our dedication to local ventures.
EGMI also manages the Visit East Gippsland website which drives visitation to the region, along with the Love East Gippsland social media channels.
EGMI will launch our own podcast later this year, focussed on the lives of East Gippslanders, particularly rural women living in the far outreaches on the Shire.
